Nationals Extend Michael Morse

The Washington Nationals announced today that they extended Michael Morse’s contract in a multi-year deal, avoiding salary arbitration.

General Manager Mike Rizzo announced the deal and said it was done before arbitration figures were exchanged and was contingent on the passing of a now completed physical.

Morse, 29, had a breakout season for the Nationals last year hitting .303 with 31 homers and 95 RBI. Becoming just the fourth National to do so since the team came to Washington in 2005.

Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
