The Caps (23-17-2, 48 points) held practice today as they prepare for the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow night for a 5pm Sunday start.  For the third game in a row on the Caps four game home stand the Caps will play a team coming off a game the night before as the Hurricanes host the Boston Bruins tonight.  Before the game tonight, the Hurricanes are currently 15-23-7 with 37 points.

The Caps are 6-2 in their last eight games, 8-1 in their last nine home games and have won six home games in a row while scoring first in all those six games.

The Caps forward lines today: Ovechkin-Johansson-Semin, Knuble-Laich-Brouwer, Chimera-Halpern-Ward, Hendricks-Eakin-Perreault-Beagle.

Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom didn’t practice today once again.  Green is out until at least February 1st when he is eligible to come back off of long term injured reserve while Backstrom is day-to-day and can come off of injured reserve any time.  All the healthy Capitals practiced today.

Since it’s a 5pm game tomorrow, there will be no morning skate on Sunday.

Listen here to what Dale Hunter, Mike Knuble and Jason Chimera had to say following practice today.
