Florio: Colts Will Not Make $28 Million Payment To Manning

Mike Florio from PFT joined “The Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan and suspects the Colts will be ready to move on from the Peyton Manning era in Indianapolis.

Florio suspects the public will know for sure what Manning’s future will be since he is owed $28 million in early March.

“Jim Irsay going decide on Andrew Luck over Peyton Manning and he’s going to not try and do the Brett Favre/Aaron Rodgers thing with Manning and Luck and it would be a huge financial commitment and look, that $28 million payment is coming up in early March for Peyton Manning, and I think, right now, the Colts are not going to make that payment,” Florio said.

Of course, the speculation turns into where the future Hall of Fame quarterback will end up.

According to Florio, he thinks Manning would retire instead of signing with another team because there has been so little information about his neck injury and it is worse off than has been let on.

Unless the source is Manning, the Colts medical/training staff, or someone within the organization in position to make personnel decisions, I think it’s safe to say it’s purely speculation and therefore not worth reading.
