If you’ve ever thought about creating your own artwork or perfecting your performance techniques, the D.C. community is full of resources and classes to expand your artistic horizons and explore hidden talents. Stretch your creative muscles with any of the available classes below.

Washington Art School offers a variety of painting, drawing and sculpting classes that generally run for about 10 weeks. The school also hosts discussion groups, silent films and a main gallery for art showings and meetings.

Marta teaches the exotic art of belly dancing in a D.C. setting. Classes are offered in her private studio by appointment, and can be booked by e-mailing Marta directly at marta@moveyourbelly.com. Oriental and tribal dance classes are also taught at BloomBars on Mondays at 6:45 p.m.

At The Levine School, over 150 professional teachers nurture students in a variety of genres, including classical and jazz. Opportunities to attend performances and concerts by world renowned artists are also offered frequently.

Capitol Hill Arts Workshop has had a long standing commitment to making the arts more accessible to the community. Classes offered include pilates, yoga, oil painting, singing and ballet. Visitors have the option to register online or over the phone.
