TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Christie says he wishes Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was “a little edgier and a little bolder.”

Christie, who briefly considered running for the GOP nomination, has endorsed Romney.

Christie, speaking on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Tuesday, says the former Massachusetts governor is the best option for the GOP.

Christie says if former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is the presidential nominee, people will focus on Gingrich’s record and not Obama’s.

The New Jersey governor called Gingrich “uncompromising and incendiary” and said Obama is someone “still searching around in a dark room trying to find the light switch of leadership.”

Christie says he has no regret about deciding not to run for president.
