Former Washington Redskins cornerback Shawn Springs joined LaVar and Dukes today and told the show that the Redskins should claim recently released Broncos’ QB Kyle Orton.

“If I’m [Redskins], Kyle Orton is on the wire right now, I’m going to get him today.”

Orton was benched earlier this season in favor of Tim Tebow. However, Fox Sports Jay Glazer believes the favorites to land him are Kansas City and Chicago.

If the Redskins claimed him, they would be responsible for the $2.5 million remaining on his contract.

Springs played for the Redskins for five season from 2004-2008, and was named an All-Pro in 2004.

You sounded Snyder- esque maniacal today. You don’t want Kyle Orton because you need to change the culture of plugging holes, firing this guy, getting that guy – these are all knee-jerk reactions. God forbid Snyder heard your show today and momentarily reverted back to his maniacal grab bagging.from the assembly line of recycled players. The only thinig I thought today during your show was – it hasn’t been the owner whose been the problem all these years…its been the fans!

Phillip, you make a lot of sense. It’s like thinking Obama can make a change in the same cultural environment. He can’t. The environment must change first.

Question? Why do people say the Redskins defense is so good? They can’t hold teams in the clutch. I know teams are gonna score but why do they praise the defense? Good teams stop good teams from scoring in the clutch. Period. D. Hall was the only one being real. They are giving up the big play year after year. The secondary for the Skins just can’t fix the problems for some reason. Money doesn’t seem to fix it. And Snyder isn’t a player my Redskin fans. He’s not out there playing and he keeps trying to bring in players and coaches. Lavar, you may feel slighted by Snyder but shuffling players around isn’t working.
