Acclaimed author John Feinstein called “The Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan and commented on former Maryland Terrapins head basketball coach new job as college hoops analyst for the Big Ten Network.
Feinstein thought it was a smart move for Williams.
“He’s much better off in the Big Ten Network, doing, you know, good games. Some of the travel is a pain in the neck but it’s a good place for him to start and show people he can be pretty good at this, which is hasn’t had a chance to do yet,” Feinstein said.
Feinstein, who understands how the media business works, said ESPN may be a bigger brand name but Williams would start low on the pecking order for calling games. Analysts like Hubert Davis, Bob Knight, Dick Vitale, Jay Bilas all would have priority over him.
