CBS investigative reporter Armen Keteyian joined “The Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan the day after his exclusive interview with former Penn State wide receiver’s coach Mike McQueary, the controversial figure who saw Jerry Sandusky allegedly sexually assault a boy in the team’s showers in 2002.
McQueary’s actions, or lack thereof, have been under intense scrutiny from the nation. However, emails have come out that contradict his grand jury testimony saying he did intervene between Sandusky and the victim and the police were notified.
Keteyian scored the first interview with McQueary and has received flack for his “interview,” which only lasted a mere minute.
“Criticize or whatever you want, but I can tell you that my job is to stay on the story or in front of the story,” Keteyian said. “And if ABC or NBC or CNN or ESPN had that moment with Mike McQueary, they would have played it just like we played it.”
He reiterated that finding McQueary was a job within itself and scoured public records for an address. He also said that him being home and willing to be on mic and camera on his porch was happenstance and berating him with questions would only jeopardize any future interview opportunities.
