Caps Take Off For Three

By Sky Kerstein

The Capitals (10-4-1, 21 points) held one final practice today before they head off for a three game road trip starting with Nashville tomorrow.  They had one final practice this morning and even with a depleted blue line, the Capitals didn’t call anyone up from AHL Hershey.  Capitals Head Coach Bruce Boudreau said since they don’t have any back to backs on the three game road trip, that they could call fly someone in if needed.

Defenseman Mike Green, who had an awkward collision with Ryan Carter Friday night, & Jay Beagle (concussion) were the only two Capitals who didn’t practice.  Green and Beagle won’t be on the trip to start, although Bruce Boudreau said he hopes Green could join them at some point on the trip.  Jay Beagle isn’t likely to be on the trip at all.

The forward lines looked like this today: Ovechkin-Backstrom-Brouwer, Chimera-Laich-Semin, Eakin-Johansson-Ward, Hendricks-Perreault-Halpern-Knuble, Alzner-Carlson, Hamrlik-Schultz, Erskine-Wideman.  Boudreau confirmed Cody Eakin will be on the trip and that he believes Roman Hamrlik & John Erskine will be ready to go.

Listen here to what Bruce Boudreau, Dennis Wideman, Joel Ward, Karl Alzner, Tomas Vokoun, Roman Hamrlik, John Carlson & Cody Eakin had to say as they prepare for their three game road trip, also talked about injuries, playing in Winnipeg and much more.
