The Caps ended their two game slide with a 3-1 win on the road in New Jersey in the first of a home and home with the Devils.  Alex Ovechkin, Jason Chimera & Marcus Johansson all scored for the Caps and Tomas Vokoun had 32 saves in the victory.

The Devils got on the board first when Adam Larsson beat Tomas Vokoun just after the midway point in the third.  But Alex Ovechkin got his seventh of the season when he put in a Dennis Wideman rebound late in the second to tie it up at 1.  Jason Chimera got a short handed goal that beat Brodeur low in the third to give the Caps the momentum to lead them to the win.

Alexander Semin, who was called out the previous game for bad penalties, got benched for most of the game for penalties and not doing what Bruce Boudreau wants.  He had a season low 8:25 of ice time.  Mike Green made his return but got hurt once again and is “day to day”.  Matt Hendricks’ wife had twins yesterday and he took the train up on little sleep and played 11:18 of ice time.  Jason Chimera led all Caps with four shots on goal.

The Caps (10-4-0, 20 points) play the New Jersey Devils (7-6-1, 15 points) once again Saturday, but this time it’s at Verizon Center.  The Caps will hold an optional morning skate at 11:15am at Kettler Capitals Iceplex Saturday morning.

Caps Goals:

2nd 17:33 Ovechkin (7), Wideman (9), Backstrom (15)

3rd 2:27 SH Chimera (5), Brouwer (5), Erskine (2)

3rd 10:43 Johansson (6), Alzner (5)
