If Cooley Was GM, He’d Draft A QB

Redskins’ tight end Chris Cooley joined Lavar and Dukes for his weekly appearance and when asked by a caller what he would do in next year’s draft if he were the general manager, Cooley said the team should take a signal caller.

“I’d go quarterback, and it’s not cause I have a problem with John (Beck) or Rex (Grossman) but I’d build my team around the quarterback and I’d want to build it out of the draft. I think that’s what successful teams do.”

Cooley On Drafting A QB

Cooley is out for the rest of the season with an injured knee and broken finger, but still thinks John Beck can lead the team even though he is struggling. “He’s got to get a few wins, he’s got to put a streak together…he’s got an opportunity with a decent team I think to try and put a run together later in the year.”
