Senator McConnell’s Office Occupied
WASHINGTON D.C. (CBS Washington) – Last night 20 members from the group OurDC staged an occupation at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s DC office.
The group started their occupation at about 10:30 a.m. and stayed until the office closed around 6 p.m. The group asked to meet McConnell (R-Ky.) but did not get a meeting.
Robert Steurer, a communications director for McConnell, told CBS Washington that “Twice we offered them a meeting with our legislative director and senior staff but they declined.”
When asked if the senator would meet with the group in the future, “Of course, any group or individual can request a meeting with the senator,” replied Steurer.
According to their website OurDC is a non profit organization that is “dedicated to ensuring that the voices of unemployed and under employed city residents are heard and listened to in local and national dialogs on jobs and job creation.”
