The Capitals had around a 40 minute practice today as they come off a big win in Philly last night, but have another tough test hosting the Detroit Red Wings tomorrow. The Caps are a franchise best 6-0-0 and the Red Wings are currently undefeated as well at 4-0-0, but play Columbus (0-5-1) tonight in Detroit then fly here afterwards.
Michal Neuvirth had a full practice today (bruised foot), but when Capitals Head Coach Bruce Boudreau was asked if he could back up tomorrow, Boudreau said,
“I doubt it, I doubt it if he’ll back up tomorrow, but you know, he may.”
But Boudreau added some good news,
“I gotta believe that he’ll be ready to play in a game next week on the trip [road trip in Edmonton and Vancouver0."
All the Capitals did skate today besides Jay Beagle who the Caps announced later is now week to week instead of the previous day to day. Boudreau wouldn't confirm or deny yesterday if Beagle had a concussion and would only say,
“You can infer whatever you want to infer, we’re just saying it’s day to day.”
Beagle was knocked out during a fight in the October 13th win in Pittsburgh against the Penguins and hasn't skated since.
On a side note:
Red Wings Captain defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom will be playing in his 1500th career game tomorrow.
