The Capitals (5-0-0) hope to stay undefeated as they head to Philadelphia for only their second road game of the season to play the rival Flyers (4-0-1) at 7pm tonight.  The Capitals and Flyers faced off four times last season and all four games went to overtime with two going to a shootout.   Both teams went 2-0-2 against each other last season.

The Flyers have made some changes from last season, bringing in guys like forward Jaromir Jagr (0 goals, 4 assists) and goalie Ilya Bryzgalov (3-0-1, 1.99 GAA, .927 Save pct.) and getting rid of two of their top players in Jeff Carter and Mike Richards.  Claude Giroux has four goals to lead the Flyers and rookie center Brayden Schenn, who they got in the Mike Richards trade with the Kings and is the Flyers #1 prospect, was called up from the AHL Adirondack Phantoms and is expected to make his Flyers debut tonight.

Capitals Head Coach Bruce Boudreau said this morning on the Flyers, “They’ve got the deepest talent we’ve seen this year”.

The Capitals are expected to go with a normal line up tonight: Ovechkin-Backstrom-Brouwer, Semin-Johansson-Knuble, Chimera-Laich-Ward, Hendricks-Perreault-Halpern, Alzner-Carlson, Hamrlik-Green, Schultz-Wideman and Vokoun (4-0-0, 1.94 GAA, .935 Save pct.) will start in goal vs. Bryzgalov for the Flyers.  DJ King will be the healthy scratch, Michal Neuvirth didn’t make the trip and is day to day with a bruised right foot.  Dany Sabourin will back up Vokoun tonight.

Capitals Head Coach Bruce Boudreau was asked the status of forward Jay Beagle, who hasn’t skated in a week since being knocked out by Aaron Asham in a fight in the Penguins game, said he wasn’t on the trip and when asked if he had a concussion his response was, “you can infer whatever you want to infer, we’re just saying it’s day to day.”

Listen here to what Bruce Boudreau, Alex Ovechkin, Mike Knuble, Nicklas Backstrom & Troy Brouwer had to say after the morning skate today as they prepare for the hated Flyers tonight.
