After spending his four season in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, punter Sav Rocca signed with the Washington Redskins this off-season and has been one of the teams’ most consistent performers. Through the first six weeks of the season, he leads the league with punts inside of the 20 yard-line with 14.
Rocca joined the LaVar Arrington Show with Chad Dukes to talk about facing his former team this past weekend as well as why playing Australian rules football has given him an advantage with his punting.
In a performance that went largely unnoticed because of the four interception debacle by quarterback Rex Grossman, Rocca took the Eagles’ speedy return-man DeSean Jackson out of the game. The Eagles did not net a single yard on punt returns and Rocca landed another two punts inside the 20.
“I also look at it with the point of view that I’m punting to DeSean Jackson and that made me nervous because he’s such a dangerous returner,” said Rocca,”That’s my direct opponent and I had to take him out of the game.”
