Darrel Young: Fines Are Changing The Game

Washington Redskins’ fullback Darrel Young joined the LaVar Arrington Show to talk about returning to action after a nagging hamstring injury, being fined $15,000 for hit in the season opener and his thoughts on facing the Philadelphia Eagles next week.

During the Redskins’ Week one victory over the New York Giants, Young was fined $15,000 for an illegal blindside block that he has since appealed. Young was not flagged for the hit and when asked if the fine has affected the way he plays, he said that the thought certainly lingers in his head when he’s on the field.

“You could see in the next game I had a chance to hit a guy, he ended up making the tackle on (Brandon) Banks so that was just me going back to the film and saying I’m not getting another fine,” said Young.”The way players are getting fined now, I understand taking safety precautions but at the same time I feel like they’re taking away from the game.”
