The Nationals defeated the Marlins 4-3 to salvage the finale of three games at Nationals Park and now embark on their last four games against the first place Phillies in Philadelphia.

Washington has won six of their last eight outings.

Chris Marrero had two RBIs and Chien-Ming Wang with his third victory Sunday as the Nationals won their 72nd game of the season. They won 69in 2010 and 59 in 2009. With 10 games remaining, the Nationals have a shot at 78 or 79 wins on the year.

Younger pitchers Ross Detwiler, Tommy Milone and Brad Peacock will make the first three starts of the series. It will be interesting to see how the Nationals will fare against a team of the caliber of the Phillies even though Philadelphia has pretty much clinched everything.

You have to respect how hard the Nationals are playing considering they are out of the race and I believe it is a good sign for the positive direction of the franchise in the near future.
