Former quarterback and college football analyst Archie Manning joined “The Sports Junkies” to talk about the upcoming season and the enormous games in week 1 like the LSU vs. Oregon match being played at Cowboy’s Stadium this Saturday.
LSU vs. Oregon is just one of a handful of big games played at neutral sites. The Georgia Dome will host the Georgia vs. Boise State game, making this year’s “Kickoff Classic” have BCS implications.
When asked if he liked neutral site games to start the season, Manning said, “I think this is great for a kickoff game every year and it’s two good choices.” He also added it’s great for players to experience lavish stadiums like Dallas’ and it’s nice to see fans into it, too. LSU plans to bring over 38,000 to Cowboys Stadium.
Archie was also asked about the Miami scandal and if the type of benefits players were receiving is more wide-spread or is the Hurricanes’ improprieties an isolated matter.
Manning believes it’s an isolated incident because Miami is such a large and diverse area that it’s easier to hide problems like that than universities that are college towns or in the middle of nowhere.
