Terps head football coach Randy Edsall joins “The Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan to preview his first season in College Park.

He breaks down his coaching staff, hiring  Gary Crowton as offensive coordinator and Todd Bradford from Southern Miss to head the defense.  Edsall says he’s a huge fan of Crowton’s wide open attack the field style of offense and Bradford’s aggressive philosophy.

Edsall relied heavily on his running backs while coaching at UConn but says he implemented his game plan based on strengths of the players.

“Your attack is going to be dictated based on the personnel that you have and being a former quarterback, you know, I was a guy who would always like to throw the ball or be balanced, but when we were at Uconn we were not able to do that so what we did was rely on our strengths and our strengths were running the football.”

It will be easier to incorporate a lethal pass attack with ACC Rookie of the year Danny O’Brien returning as quarterback.  Edsall believes with his skill he expects O’Brien, along with the wide receivers, to have big years.

On a side note, the Terps head football coach was asked what new uniform combo he liked the most….Edsall responded he was a fan of the all-black Under Armour combination.  Expect a blackout Monday, September 5th in College Park against Miami.
