Leitch on Vick: Goodell Put Me in Philly
Will Leitch, founding editor of Deadspin.com and contributor to GQ Magazine, joined the LaVar Arrington Show with Chad Dukes to discuss his recent article on Michael Vick where the current Philadelphia Eagle’s QB made some very controversial statements.
Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison for his role in running an illegal dog fighting operation out of his native Newport News, Virginia.
The article details the embattled quarter back as he gives a commencement speech to graduates of Pennsylvania’s Camelot Schools. Vick was chosen by the students in a vote that also included the schools superintendent and the Mayor of Philadelphia.
Vick told Leitch that he originally did not want to play for the Philadelphia Eagles because “Being the third team quarterback is nothing to smile about.”
But after meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell and other reps from the NFL, Vick was convinced—and granted league approval—to sign with Philly. “And I commend and thank them, because they put me in the right situation,” said Vick.
