The Redskins were back at practice for the first time since their 16-7 victory Friday over the Pittsburgh Steelers as they prepare for preseason game number two in Indianapolis on Friday.
Brandon Banks, OJ Atogwe, Malcolm Kelly, Chris Cooley, Ryan Torain, Kareem Moore & LaRon Landry didn’t practice today. Banks called it a “maintenance day” and had his left knee wrapped with ice. Shanahan said Banks had a “few cc’s” drained from his knee. OJ Atogwe said he is “day to day” with a hamstring and that “once it feels right and I can explode and extend, I’m going to be back out there with the fellas”.
Mike Shanahan says Chris Cooley’s knee is a “little bit sore, a little bit swollen” and says according to the doctors will take up to a couple of weeks. Shanahan says “I really don’t know” if Cooley will be ready for the start of the season. Shanahan said Ryan Torain will see a hand specialist tomorrow and they’ll get a better feel after he talks to the doctors. No update on Kelly, Moore or Landry.
John Beck had a full practice and says he is planning on playing Friday. Beck says he doesn’t know the QB rotation for Friday. The Redskins did make on roster move, they cut veteran kicker Shayne Graham after he missed two field goals on Friday.
