Chien-Ming Wang, in just his third start of the season, won for the first time in over two years as he lead the Washington Nationals to a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field last night.
Wang won for the first time as a National as missed more than two years following shoulder surgery. His last victory came in June of 2009, when he was with the New York Yankees. Wang pitched six scoreless innings, and threw his signature sinker on 66 of his 81 pitches.
No Chicago batters even got a hit until the sixth on Wang until Tony Campana got on with an infield single. Wang only gave up that one hit over his six innings.
Washington’s three runs all came in the sixth after another towering home-run by Michael Morse and a two run shot by Jonny Gomes.
