Yahoo! Sports writer Doug Farrar had a column that takes an in-depth look at the Redskins’ lack of talent at the quarterback position, putting them as the front-runner for the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.
Doug doesn’t see why offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan has such an infatuation with John Beck, who hasn’t played a game in three years.
“I think Kyle Shanahan has a Pygmalion complex. I think he wants to find a guy that nobody believes in, that nobody wants to talk about and turn him into a starting NFL quarterback so everyone will say, “Oh, wow, look at what a genius Kyle Shanahan is.”
Farrar also doesn’t understand why Grossman was named starter on the depth chart. His point is how can you replace Donovan McNabb for Grossman in two-minute drill in the Lions drill for cardiovascular endurance with someone who looks overweight in every picture taken so far this year in camp.
He adds that Grossman has looked awful at quarterback on much better teams, like the NFC Championship Bears team, who had a better defense and running game.
All in all, Farrar thinks the Skins’ contingency plan of winning the Andrew Luck sweepstakes will be the result of having players like Beck or Grossman at the helm in DC.
