The Washington Redskins released their first preseason depth chart this morning. When compared to last year’s starters, there are some notable names missing, and some obscure names starting. For example, the starting quarterback is currently slated as Rex Grossman, last year’s backup. Another shakeup from last season is at the cornerback position, where Kevin Barnes is now listed as number 2.
Kevin Barnes out of the University of Maryland has been with the Redskins since his rookie season in 2009. As a backup, Barnes has seen some playing time and was able to perform well enough to earn himself a starting job this year.
Kevin called into the Mike Wise Show with Holden Kushner this morning to talk about his bump up to the starting lineup and where he sees the team’s defense in its current state. According to Kevin “It’s hard to replace a player like Albert Haynesworth but you can replace an attitude like that.”
