The top story today is Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan confirming the re-signing of veteran conerback Phillip Buchanon but also announced Buchanon will be suspended by the NFL for the first four regular season games of the season.  Mike Shanahan would not go into further detail on why he was suspended.

Shanahan also said quarterback Rex Grossman will be here tonight and said there is a “good chance” he’ll re-sign then.  Mike Shanahan clarified why newly acquired runningback Tim Hightower hasn’t practiced yet and that’s because he was a restricted free agent who re-signed with the Cardinals right before he was traded, so he is ineligible to practice until August 4th.

On the injury front Shanahan said Ryan Kerrigan is getting better, but they are being cautious and he’ll probably be out for 2 to 3 more days with a bone bruise on his knee.  Kerrigan said he’s getting better, ran on a treadmill yesterday and did more stuff today while he’s traded in his compression sleeve for a knee brace.  DeAngelo hall hurt his wrist during practice, but soon returned wearing a brace and is fine.
