The Redskins officially kicked off the 2011 season today with an early morning practice. After meetings they also will have a walk through practice this afternoon, both closed to the public. With the new rules the Redskins will only have two quarterbacks in camp, John Beck and Ben Chapple, until August 4th when Kellen Clemens and likely Rex Grossman can officially practice since they are currently free agents. Clemens is expected to sign at 6pm today, but can’t practice until the CBA is supposed to be ratified August 4th. Also today both offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and quarterback John Beck said they expect Rex Grossman to sign at some point and join the team.
New free safety OJ Atogwe spoke for the first time today since signing before the lockout about joining the Redskins, how him and LaRon Landry will work together and also talked about what Sean Taylor means to him. Kyle Shanahan and John Beck both spoke as well about the quarterback situation, all the wide receivers and what they are working on early in camp. Also London Fletcher, Brian Orakpo, Anthony Armstrong, Malcolm Kelly and Aldrick Robinson all spoke about the beginning of camp and also hit on the Albert Haynesworth situation. Listen here to what they all had to say.
