by Grant Paulsen

106.7 The Fan has learned that the Redskins have filled their punting vacancy by acquiring fifth-year veteran Sav Rocca.

Rocca, a 37-year-old Australian, is coming off of a fourth straight season where he totaled at least 73 punts with the Philadelphia Eagles. His longest punt of 2010 soared 63 yards, and he averaged a career best 43.8 yards per punt.

The 6-foot-5, special teams standout landed 28 punts inside the 20 yard-line in 2010, also a career-high.

For his career Rocca has recorded 299 punts and averaged 42.9 yards per kick. He’s had just one punt blocked and had just one of his punts returned for a touchdown.

After years of having no offensive line, except for the one consisting of Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato, and that father and son clown act, the Shananigans, It is nice to finally see a youth movement arriving in Washington in the most vital of all positions. Sadly, our head coach thought it best to waste a year acting like an ass, trying to assert dominance over certain players he took personal vendettas against. Compared to Bill Belichick, Mike Shanahan is a toilet fish. How he found work in this league could only have happened in Washington…..HAIL TO THE REDSKIN PLAYERS….all the others can go to hell!
