The Boston Herald’s Patriots beat reporter Ian Rapoport joins The Sports Junkies to give DC and Skins fans an opposing viewpoint of the Albert Haynesworth deal that sent the disgruntled defensive tackle to New England for a fifth-round draft pick in 2013.
The Haynesworth trade is still pending a physical but Rapoport is sure he will pass it since it’s un-Belichick like to let a trade rumor leak unless the deal is practically done.
Rapoport envisions Haynesworth helping the Pats defend the run and contribute to a NFL worst 49% third-down conversion percentage.
In regards to Haynesworth’s “baggage” like the infamous shuttle run he had to pass for his conditioning test or laying on the ground during the Eagles MNF game, Rapoport said the Pats have a unique way of handling these types of antics.
“The Patriots have a funny way of handling things like that. They don’t care about it. It sounds a little ridiculous but it’s really true. They simply do not address in-field issues like that. Not only do that make an attempt to not care about it, they do not discuss it.”
Ian Rapoport covers the New England Patriots and writes “The Rap Sheet” blog for the Boston Herald
