ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Redskins and the Vikings have finalized a trade that will send Donovan McNabb to Minnesota.
The deal was initially reported on Tuesday afternoon. FoxSports and NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer is reporting that the Vikings will ship Washington a 2012 6th-round pick and a possible 6th-round selection in 2013 in exchange for McNabb.
The main obstacle that held the deal up was apparently a re-negotiating of McNabb’s contract, which the Vikings weren’t willing to absorb.
McNabb is coming off a season that saw him get benched twice and in which he posted his lowest quarterback rating since his rookie season in 1999. He had a public falling out with Mike and Kyle Shanahan, which bottomed out when his agent released a statement criticizing how the Shanahans were treating his client.
The six-time pro bowler and five-time NFC championship game participant had posted a 102-56 record as a starter before the Redskins traded for him last spring.
