Quick Hitters: Player Movement Day One

by Grant Paulsen

1. The Redskins re-signed 32-year-old wide receiver Santana Moss to a three-year deal worth a reported $15 million.
Moss caught a career-best 93 passes and amassed 1,115 yards in 2010. Will he be Washington’s No. 1 or will the team sign another WR?

2. Brian Orakpo vented about how much drama Redskins players have had to cope with the last two years.
An animated Orakpo said the “Albert nonsense” has to end. He stressed that the Redskins needed to focus on games not distractions.

3. The Minnesota Vikings reportedly contacted the Redskins to discuss a potential Donovan McNabb trade.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Minnesota called Washington about McNabb. The Vikings look like a practical suitor for McNabb.

4. The Redskins signed a trio of undrafted rookie free agents.
Washington’s most notable rookie free agent signing was Indiana quarterback Ben Chappell. He led the Big-10 in completions in 2010.

5. John Beck, Anthony Armstrong and Casey Rabach talked to the media.
Beck talked about wanting to start. Rabach said he’s hoping for continuity along the Redskins’ line. Armstrong said he showed up Tuesday for the free lunch.
