Nationals Bounce Back Over Braves
The Nationals bounced back nicely with a 5-2 win over the Atlanta Braves after being crushed 11-1 Friday night at Turner Field. Wilson Ramos led the charge for the Nats going 2 for 3 with three RBI including a two run bomb and an RBI double plus a walk. Ramos now has nine homers and 33 RBI on the season.
John Lannan also had a nice bounce back game on the mound and from the plate lasting 5.2 innings and giving up five hits, two runs, four walks and striking out four plus helped his own cause by getting his first two hits of the season and first two RBI on the year. Lannan is now 2 for 35 on the season and raised his record to 6-6 on the year with a 3.62 ERA.
The Nationals started out strong with a Wilson Ramos RBI double and a John Lannan two RBI bases loaded single in the second to make it 3-0 early. Alex Gonzalez came back in the bottom of the third for the Braves with a two run shot to cut it to a 3-2 lead, but Wilson Ramos’ two run bomb in the sixth put the game away.
The Nationals bullpen did the job once again, going 3.1 innings and giving up no hits, no runs and striking out two. Drew Storen came on for his 24th save of the season and Ryan Mattheus and Tyler Clippard had the holds. The Nats also had a great game in the field after having five errors on Friday, they had zero errors Saturday night including a couple real nice plays by Ian Desmond. Desmond also went 1 for 3 at the plate.
The Nationals and Braves will play the rubber match at 1:35pm tomorrow with the pregame show starting at 1pm on 106.7 The FAN.
