The Capitals had their second Development Camp scrimmage today and the “White” team (group A) won 4-3 in a shootout to tie the series at one before the final scrimmage Sunday.  Travis Boyd though is the story at camp, he has three goals and two assists combined in the two scrimmages for the “Red” team (group B) including the game equalizer today.

For the “White” team they had goals by David Civitarese, Danick Paquette and Garrett Mitchell.  Mitchell also had the lone shootout goal for either team to give the “White” team the victory.  In the two scrimmages Mitchell has two goals and a shootout goal.  The “Red” team had goals by Reid Edmondson and two by Boyd.  On the Edmondson goal, Boyd shot it on goal and Edmondson deflected it in.

Bruce Boudreau said afterwards on Boyd, “…there’s some guys that are really opening eyes to the scouts and management.”  Cody Eakin hasn’t played as well as he did a year ago in Development Camp, but Boudreau said, “I have no fears that Cody Eakin is going to come to our camp with one desire and that desire is to make the Caps and I think we’ll see a lot out of him then.”

The quote of the day came from Danick Paquette, who besides his goal also got into a fight, and he said, “I’m a pretty dirty player, like Matt Cooke.”

Tomorrow there will be two Development Camp practices as the prospects prepare for the big scrimmage and fan fest on Sunday.  All practices and scrimmages are at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Ballston and open to the public.

Check out what Bruce Boudreau had to say about Travis Boyd, Garrett Mitchell, Cody Eakin, Mattias Sjogren and his overall thoughts on the Development Camp overall.
