The “Red” team (group B) won 4-2 in the first scrimmage of Development Camp with goals by Caleb Herbert, Stanislav Galiev, Travis Boyd and Aaron Schmit.  The “White” team (group A) had goals by Andrew Cherniwchan and Garrett Mitchell.

Bruce Boudreau commented afterwards on how physical he thought the scrimmage was and two casualties came from it.  First Wade Epp left in the second period after a hard hit in the boards, he was holding his left arm and was helped off after being on the ice for a few minutes and then Taylor Stefishen also left in the second period with what appears to be a possible right knee issue and both will be re-evaluated in the morning.  Cody Eakin said afterwards that he was a little “rusty” but got it going by the third period.

Stanislav Galiev on his goal, “It’s a great game, happy I scored, it was a good pass by Boyd, just have to shoot the puck.”  He also said he felt great.  There was one fight though, Dustin Stevenson and Garrett Ross went at it for a few minutes but made up afterwards.

The Caps will have their second Development Camp scrimmage tomorrow at 9am from Kettler Capitals Iceplex.  Check out what Bruce Boudreau had to say about Philipp Grubauer, the scrimmage in general, players who stood out to him and the re-signing of Mathieu Perreault.
