The Caps free agent frenzy continues as they signed veteran goalie Tomas Vokoun to a one year, 1.5 million dollar contract.  Vokoun is 35 years old and has played in the NHL for 632 regular season games.  Vokoun has been with the Florida Panthers the last four seasons and has a career 2.56 GAA with a .917 save pct.

Vokoun has also played in 11 playoff games, going 3-8 with a 2.47 GAA and one shutout.  Last season Vokoun went 22-28-5 with a 2.55 GAA, .922 save pct. for the last place Panthers.  Vokoun is from the Czech Republic and will battle with fellow Czech Michal Neuvirth for the number one goalie spot.  Check out what Tomas Vokoun and Capitals General Manager George McPhee had to say about the acquisition, if he had any guarantees and where they think the team is right now.
