The Caps Have Signed Forward Joel Ward

By Sky Kerstein

The Caps keep making moves on the first day of free agency as they sign right winger Joel Ward to a four year, $3 million dollar a year contract.  The 30-year-old Ward led Nashville with 13 points (7 goals, 6 assists) in 12 playoff games last season.  Ward has played in four NHL seasons and 241 regular season games netting 40 goals and 59 assists.

Ward also has playoff experience, playing in 18 playoff games and having 9 goals and 8 assists.  Ward is a hard working physical defensive forward who can score and will most likely play on the Caps third or fourth lines.
