Capitals Re-Sign Brooks Laich

The Capitals re-signed veteran forward Brooks Laich to a six year, twenty-seven million dollar contract.  Laich has played in 475 regular season career games and all but one have been with the Washington Capitals.  Laich, who was dealt to the Caps in the Peter Bondra trade to Ottawa in 2003, is 28 years old and one of the leaders of the team.

In 82 regular season games last season, Laich had 16 goals and 32 assists while playing both wing positions and center.  Laich had one goal and six assists in the nine playoff games last season.  In 475 regular season games, Laich has 100 goals and 137 assists.  In 37 NHL playoff games, Laich has seven goals and 16 assists.  Laich had career highs in 2009-2010 with 25 goals and 34 assists.
