The Washington Nationals dropped their final game in the ‘Battle of the Beltways’ series against the Baltimore Orioles on Father’s Day. A few costly errors and sloppy play prevented Washington from winning their ninth straight game, which would have put them at the .500 mark. Tom Gorzelanny was making his first start since returning from the disabled list, but didn’t fair too well. He pitched 4 2/3 innings while allowing 10 hits and five runs (four were earned). Danny Espinosa and Roger Bernadina both went deep with solo shots, but it wasn’t enough as the Nationals fell by a score of 7-4. The team wraps up their homestand with another interleague series against the Seattle Mariners, starting on Tuesday.
