The Capitals announced today they have hired former Capitals All-Star goalie Olie Kolzig as Associate Goaltender Coach.  Dave Prior to return as director of goaltending and NHL goaltender coach.

The 41 year old Kolzig played in 711 games for the Capitals.  For the Capitals he played in 711 games with 301 wins and 35 shutouts with a 2.70 GAA and .906 Save pct.  Kolzig last played in the NHL in 2oo8-2oo9 when he appeared in eight games for the Tampa Bay Lightning.  Kolzig made the NHL all-star team twice, won the Vezina award in 2000 and led the Caps to the Stanley Cup in 1998.   Kolzig owns most of the Caps goalie records. 

Dave Prior returns as the Caps director of goaltending and NHL goaltender coach.  Prior spent 12 seasons as the Capitals goaltending coach from 1996-97 through the 2008-09 season and won four divisional championships and made six playoff appearances during his tenure.
