DC United And FC Dallas Play To A Scoreless Draw At RFK
D.C. United and F.C. Dallas split the points Saturday night as they played to a 0-0 tie in front of 11,504 fans at R.F.K. United seemed to take control of the game early as they had a better load of the possession for the first ten minutes. In the 8th minute D.C. had three chances to score all within a 10 second span. It started with a terrible error in defense by F.C. Dallas that lead to a 1-0n-1 opportunity for Davies against Kevin Hartman who made the save. The ball than fell to the feet of Najar who had a bad first touch but was still able to get off a shot that was cleared off the line by an F.C. Dallas defender right to Davies who had a shot to score but again was blocked.
Most of the first half was a battle of the midfield’s with both teams having spurts of controlled possession. In the second half you saw a little more scoring chances for both teams but none more clear than in the 89th minute when Josh Wolff, coming off the bench, sent in a great cross to Davies but he was unable to get it past a sprawling Kevin Hartman. The main storyline for this game was United’s Captain Dax McCarty taking on his former club. Dax played a solid game but was unable to get the win he wanted. Andy Najar left the game early with what appeared to be an injury to his foot after a collision with a Dallas player but all indication are that he will be fine.
D.C. United will get a week off as they continue their home stand next week vs the Colorado Rapids Saturday Night at R.F.K. D.C. now has 11 points in the 2011 campaign good enough for 5th place in the east.
