The Capitals host the Tampa Bay Lightning in game two of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals tonight at 7pm.  The Lightning hold a 1-0 series lead over the Capitals before they play the next two in Tampa, so tonight is a pivotal game for the Caps.  Michal Neuvirth (4-2, 1.62 GAA, .936 Save pct.) will be in net tonight for the Caps against the Lightning’s Dwayne Roloson (5-3, 1.80 GAA, .947 Save pct.).

Capitals Head Coach Bruce Boudreau expects John Carlson to play tonight.  Carlson was hit by Nate Thompson last game and only played 30 seconds in the third period.  Carlson didn’t skate yesterday but says he feels “great” today.  Mike Knuble came off the ice around 15 minutes into the morning skate, but Bruce Boudreau said he doubts he’ll be available tonight and thinks he’ll be available sometime in this series.  The curious part was Matt Hendricks took a little longer than usual on game days to get off the ice today, so either Knuble is playing and Hendricks isn’t or Hendricks was just working extra on his game.  Defenseman Sean Collins also skated longer than usual on game days, but came off before the scratches so the Caps could always go with seven defenseman instead of Knuble and Hendricks playing tonight, definitely something to look out for tonight.  Dennis Wideman skated today is getting closer, but still no timetable on his return and he has yet to skate with the full team during practice.

If Knuble doesn’t play tonight, the Caps are expected to have the same line-up as game one.  Nobody took today’s morning skate off including Ovechkin who sometimes takes morning skate’s off.  The known scratches tonight are 3, 42, 46, 17, 89, 83, 70, 85, 6.  Check out what Bruce Boudreau, Alex Ovechkin and Mike Green had to say after the morning skate today.
