The Capitals host the Tampa Bay Lightning for game one of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. The last time these two teams played in the playoffs was 2003 when the Lightning beat the Caps in six games. The Caps were 4-1-1 against the Lightning in the regular season and Michal Neuvirth 1-0 in two games started while giving up four goals. Neuvirth only played 20 minutes the last time they played the Lightning after taking a puck to his mask he left after the first period. Dwayne Roloson will be in net for the Lightning and is 22-15, 2.41 GAA, .922 Save pct. and two shutouts in 40 career playoff games. The Caps haven’t given up a first period goal in five playoff games and have only given up two goals at home and eight goals total.
The Caps lineup tonight likely will look like 21-19-8, 18-44-28, 25-90-16, 26-15-10, 55-52, 27-74, 4-23, 30. The scratches will likely be Knuble, Wideman, King, Sloan, Collins, Beagle, Poti and all the Hershey recent call ups. Check out what Bruce Boudreau had to say before the game.
