The Capitals spent a lot of time working on their power play today that went 0-3 last night. With Alex Ovechkin and Jason Arnott back the power play has to work on getting some chemistry going. Mike Green skated before practice for about 45 minutes and was off the ice right before practice. Tom Poti, who didn’t skate yesterday, fully practiced today. Dennis Wideman is day to day with a lower body injury, his status is uncertain for tomorrow.
The Capitals are three points behind the Flyers for first place in the Eastern Conference and the Flyers have one game in hand. The Capitals only have five games left, including two more on this three game home stand, and are three points up on Boston for second in the East with the Bruins having one game in hand. The Caps are also six points up on the Lightning in the Southeast Division and it looks likely they’ll win their fourth straight division title.
Former Capitals Captain Chris Clark was supposed to make his first appearance back at Verizon Center since being traded tomorrow, but looks like he’ll be out with an lower body injury. The Blue Jackets are 11 points out of a playoff spot and just playing out their season. They are 3-5-2 in their last 10 games. Check out what Bruce Boudreau, Jason Arnott, Nicklas Backstrom and Michal Neuvirth had to say following practice.
