The Capitals (38-20-10, 86 points) host the Carolina Hurricanes (31-26-10, 72 points) in a big Southeast Division match up tonight at 7pm.  The Hurricanes are on the outside of the playoff picture and need a win tonight to stay in contention while the Capitals are looking for their season high, seventh win in a row.  This will be the second game in a row the Caps will be without center Nicklas Backstrom.

Braden Holtby (6-2-2, 1.95 GAA, .926 Save pct.) will be starting his second game in a row for the Capitals.  Michal Neuvirth will back him up.  Mike Green participated in practice, Nicklas Backstrom and Tom Poti practiced then did conditioning for a while afterwards along with Tyler Sloan, DJ King and Jay Beagle.   Capitals Head Coach Bruce Boudreau said Semyon Varlamov felt good after working out before practice, isn’t ready to come back yet, but it’s coming along.  The lines should look a lot like last game.  Check out what Bruce Boudreau, Karl Alzner & Braden Holtby had to say before today’s game…
