The Caps (29-15-10, 68 points) host the hot, 7-0-1 in their last 8, San Jose Sharks (28-19-6, 62 points) tonight for a 7pm face off tonight from Verizon Center.  Alexander Semin will play for the first time since January 8th tonight after missing the last 12 games with a groin injury.  Semin hasn’t scored since November 28th, but still is second on the team with 18 goals and Head Coach Bruce Boudreau said Semin played three weeks with the injury before deciding to shut it down.

Mike Green will take tests before the game, he said he felt good this morning, and if they get the green light he will play tonight.  Jay Beagle has been sent to Hershey to make room for Semin.  Michal Neuvirth (16-6-4, 2.46 GAA, .914 Save pct.) will be in goal for the Caps tonight coming off his second shutout of the season Sunday.  The Caps have a point in 18 of their last 22 games and are three points behind the Lightning for tops in the Southeast Division.  Tom Poti said today and yesterday was the hardest he’s skated since he re-injured his groin, he also said he went to Vancouver to see a specialist and the plan is for him to be on the upcoming road trip.  Eric Fehr skated hard today after practice but is still a week or two away.  DJ King will be a healthy scratch tonight.  Check out what Bruce Boudreau, Mike Green, Mike Knuble, Brooks Laich & Tom Poti had to say before the game…
