Somehow, some way, the Wizards pulled of a major surprise, beating Boston 85-83 Saturday night at Verizon Center. John Wall had moments of brilliance, including a bank shot three pointer that gave the Wizards a three point lead with under a minute to play. Wall finished with 16 points and 6 assists as the Wizards rallied from a 35-20 first quarter defecit to pull off the stunner, allowing just 11 Celtic points in the final quarter.
Despite a partisan crowd, with a ton of Boston fans in the building, the Wizards found a way to get the win. “Tonight, I think you should give us a road win because there were more Boston fans than Washington,” Wizards coach Flip Saunders said with a cheshire grin. “We’re now 1-20″
Not so fast coach.
