For the Capitals Semyon Varlamov (4-2-0, 1.92 GAA, .934 Save pct.) will most likely face Tomas Vokoun (10-10-0, 2.58 GAA, .917 Save pct.) of the Panthers.  Matt Bradley & DJ King are the likely scratches for the Caps.  The Capitals are 12-2-2 when they score at least a goal in the first period so getting on track early is key tonight.  They were undefeated, 6-0, against the Panthers last season and this is the first time they are playing tonight.  The Caps have already played fellow Southeast Division rival Thrashers five times this season.  Bruce Boudreau spoke to the media before the game and this is what he had to say…
