Semyon Varlamov

The Capitals fall to the Bruins 3-1 at Verizon Center.  The Capitals gave forth a lot of effort including out shooting the Bruins 18-5 in the 3rd but couldn’t prevail.  Michal Neuvirth started the game for the Caps between the pipes but left shortly after giving up his 2nd goal in the first due to the flu.  Coach Boudreau said later Neuvirth complained of dizziness and a headache and if he knew he was sick beforehand he would not of started.  Semyon Varlamov made his season debut stopping 13 of 14, the one that got by him was a long wrister that floated in, he was screened and never saw it.  The Caps lone goal came from Marcus Johansson who netted his first career goal and point.  The good for the Caps is their penalty kill is now 25 for 25 on the season…The bad is their power play is now 4 for 26 on the season.  Coach Boudreau said he would see the health of Neuvirth and decide who starts up in Boston on Thursday.  The Capitals now fall to 4-2-0 on the season.  Click more to hear postgame audio from Boudreau, Johansson, Alex Ovechkin, Jason Chimera and Matt Hendricks.
